Objective

A studio showreel is a montage of unrelated work, and that is the problem. Each cut arrives from a different project with a different world, and if the audio follows the picture honestly the result is a minute of noise.

What a reel actually has to do is feel like one thing, so that a prospective client comes away with an impression of the studio rather than a list of clips.

Creative response

Sound design across the reel as a single energetic montage rather than a sequence of faithful cues. The audio is written to the edit, the transitions carry the continuity, and individual shots give up some accuracy so the whole holds together.

Work also ran across four cuts of the studio's material, alongside character animation and 3D.
